Connecting
with Beta Sigs is now easier than ever!
Partnering with the Group Interactive Network
(GIN) System, Beta Sigma Psi National Fraternity
is happy to announce the launching of the
Beta Sigma Psi Facebook Application.
“We are excited to
tap into the power of the social network
that is Facebook,” says National President
Chad Pfister. “This application will
allow prospective, collegiate and alumni
members of our Fraternity to connect with
one another in a way never done before.
We look forward to what this application
can do for us and how it can change and
grow to fit our members’ needs.”
The application contains
many features, including a page to search
for members from a particular chapter, location,
or profession; discussion boards for general
networking, topics of relevance, and sharing
best practices; a news feed for Beta Sig
events and announcements; a location for
various Fraternity resources; and a page
for Beta Sig and affiliated groups to expand
your personal network. Other features will
be modified or added as we discover the
needs and wants of our members. The application
also allows each user to add a Beta Sig
logo to his Facebook profile.
The GIN System provides
comprehensive communications solutions for
over 100,000 members of Greek organizations,
graduate schools, social organizations and
other membership groups. GIN creates stimulating
external websites, powerful and innovative
internal websites, robust communication
tools for headquarters staff members, Facebook
applications, online training tools, and
other applications that change the way that
organizations communicate and connect. In
addition to Beta Sigma Psi, GIN clients
include Phi Delta Theta, Zeta Tau Alpha,
Phi Mu, Alpha Xi Delta, Delta Chi, Alpha
Sigma Phi, Alpha Chi Omega, and Triangle

The annual Membership Educational Forum took place in Columbia, Missouri, on Martin Luther King, Jr. weekend (Jan. 19 th-20 th), with over 100 collegiate and alumni members in attendance. Members took part in small educational classes on Saturday morning and reconvened that afternoon for a discussion on Greek stereotypes in the media. Sunday brought the annual presentation of National Fraternity awards, occurring concurrently with a worship service and a discussion on the Fraternity's Vision Document. As always, members played in the annual National Basketball Tournament, with a team representing Alpha Alpha Chapter won the title for the fourth consecutive year.
Thirteen new members formally joined Beta Sigma Psi National Lutheran Fraternity as Omega Colony at Indiana University ( Bloomington, IN) on Saturday, January. 12. Numerous alumni, active chapter members, and other stakeholders were in attendance for the short ceremony. The addition of Omega Colony added an eleventh group to the Fraternity’s ranks.

The semesterly Presidents Academy took place in Columbia, Missouri, on January 5. Seven collegiate presidents, along with National President Chad Pfister and National Leadership Director Kevin Stinn, convened to discuss general Fraternity operations and topics such as goal setting, different types of meetings, and identifying the five dysfunctions of a team.

Chi Colony was formed this weekend in an important step to the re-activation of the Chi Collegiate Group. Pictures of the Colonization Ceremony will be available in the Gallery soon.
Brothers,
Things are beginning to heat up on Capital Hill in regards to the Collegiate Housing and Infrastructure Act. CHIA, as the bill has become known as, would allow tax deductible contributions to 501(c)3 foundations to be used for infrastructure improvements, in the same fashion that donations to a college or university can be used to improve their infrastructure. Since a new Congress was opened in January 2007, it was necessary to reintroduce the bill for consideration. At the moment, CHIA has 31 co-sponsors in the House of Representatives and 9 co-sponsors in the Senate. It is the goal of the Fraternal Caucus that there can be just as many co-sponsors come April 15th, 2007 as there was in the last Congress (151 in the House and 29 in the Senate). But the only way that this goal can be achieved is if members of Congress are contacted by their constituents and asked to co-sponsor the bills.
Over the past few years I have asked our members to send letters to their respective members of Congress as a way of requesting sponsorship of the bills. I am again asking that each Beta Sig take just a few minutes to send letters to Congress; however I am pleased to announce that this process has been greatly simplified thanks to the Fraternal Caucus. By going to http://fraternalcaucus.org and clicking on Contact Congress you can contact your members of Congress in less than 10 minutes. In fact, it took me only about 3 minutes to personalize my letters to my Senators and Congressman and have them e-mailed directly to their offices.
I hope that you will take a few minutes of time to check out the Fraternal Caucus.s website and get involved by contacting your members of Congress. If you have any questions about CHIA please do not hesitate to contact me. Thank you for your time and support in this great endeavor.
Fraternally,
Chad Pfister
National President
